Chris smiled at his beautiful girlfriend, reassuring her. “Well that’s great honey! Why didn…” Chris’ eyes lit up as he started to speak, until he stopped and realised what she had said afterwards. He sat there, rubbing her back as he replied softly, “I know, sweetheart, but you can’t loose any opportunity of your future, just because you’ll miss us. I will love you where ever you are, you know that.” Chris said, pulling Kelsies face towards him so she had to look him in the eye. “I will miss you, yes, of course I will, but I will visit you and…” He tailed off again, still gripping her delicate fingers. He knew when a girls mind was made up, there was no changing it. He kissed her softly on the lips, and simply smiled, fiddling with her glossy hair.

Kelsie smiled into the kiss, satisfied knowing Chris had given up. “It doesn’t matter what opportunities I get, whether they’re life changing or not, I don’t want to take them unless I can stay with you.” She told him, looking into his eyes so he knew how serious she was. “You mean more to me than anything. More than this school, more than my modelling career, more than it all. I’d give it all up in a heart beat, and be homeless and have no money, whatever, as long as I got to be with you. I love you.” Kelsie explained. She’d been wanting to say that to Chris for a long time, and she figured now was the perfect opportunity. She gave him another soft kiss on the lips, before laying down again and resting her head in his lap.

Chris sat rubbing Kelsies back as he listened. As she went on, he felt a feeling of hatred brewing in his stomach. How dare someone treat his Kelsie so bad. It was in the past but it had clearly deeply effected Kelsie, and he just wanted to go and shout at her ex boyfriend, and give him a piece of his mind. ”Well, that guy’s a dick. He deserves a kicking. Babe, you don’t need to make yourself pretty or perfect, you already are.” Chris said, holdings Kelsies hands in his. “I can’t imagine how difficult it is for you girls, but, try and have some confidence in yourself…” Chris paused thinking. “For me?” He said, looking into Kelsies eyes. “And as for the modelling… when I look at you, that’s what I see. You just act so natural. I will help all I can to help you become a model honey, if that’s what you want.” Chris finished, thinking about what he said. He had no idea if he had said the right thing, so just placed a soft kiss on Kelsies lips, gripping her hands to try and reassure her. He meant every word. He would do whatever it takes to make sure Kelsie became a model, if it would mean she was finally truely happy.

Kelsie felt relieved to finally tell Chris, but scared of what his reaction might be. Every time she brought up her ex boyfriend, she felt frightened. What she’d told Chris was only the beginning of what he’d done. She looked down at her hands as Chris held them, and then back up at his face. She felt safe, like as long as she was with him, nothing would happen to her. “It’s not that easy to just have confidence. But i’ll try, for you.” Kelsie said, taking a deep breath. When Chris talked about modelling, Kelsie looked out at the lake, smiling. “I’m already a model, Chris. I’ve been offered a contract with a huge modelling agency. But I turned it down.” She said, not making eye contact with him. “And before you ask, i’d have to be away from you, and Alice, Leon, Matt, Kirsty and all of my friends. That’s not what I want. I want to stay with you.” She insisted, interlocking their fingers.

Chris listened intently to Kelsie. He squirmed inside as she spoke, he hated it when she doubted herself. “You are to me, and anyone who can’t see it, well, they are blind, and stupid.” Chris said as he smiled at Kelsie. He felt the mood was dropping and he didn’t want this moment to change, he loved just sitting there, in fact, he had completely forgotten about the picnic and had lost track of time. He continued, “That’s why I deserve you then, sweetheart.” He leaned down and placed a kiss on Kelsies lips, his hand running through her soft, silky hair. Chris moved so he was sat next to her and put his arm around her, looking over the lake. It was so still and calm and everywhere was so quiet with no one else around. Chris tried to get into Kelsies thoughts and think what she might be thinking as she sighed, but he could never truly figure out how a girls mind worked. “Kelsie, are you okay? I know I’m not much help with all your girly stuff but…” Chris said softly, sighing himself. He hated not being able to help Kelsie fully and he hates to see her even the slightest bit unhappy.

Kelsie felt bad for bringing it up, but she truly didn’t see herself as beautiful at all. She couldn’t help but smile at Chris’ attempt to ask what was wrong with her. He was truly horrible at this kind of stuff, but at least he tries. “It’s just..” She struggled to find the right words. Kelsie didn’t have the best past with boyfriends. She’d only had one before Chris, and he’d treated her like dirt. “This boy I used to date. He used to treat me horribly. Every day he’d tell me I wasn’t good enough, pretty enough. That there was no way i’d become a model because I’m too fat..” She trailed off. “I don’t know why I stayed with him.” She sighed. “Since then, i’ve spent so much time exercising, watching what I eat, making myself look pretty, trying to be perfect.” The truth was, because of her old boyfriend’s abusive behaviour, Kelsie had developed an eating disorder. But she wasn’t going to tell Chris that just yet. She didn’t know what to say, or how to say it, and she didn’t want to stress him anymore than she probably already had.
